Healthcare products people can trust.
Design and development for digital health: patient apps, clinical tools and health platforms that people rely on when it matters. Accessible, private by design, and ready for the checks health buyers run before they sign.
- 01NHS
- design for the Covid-19 app, used by millions during a public health emergency
- 02WCAG 2.2 AA
- the level NHS DTAC now asks for, above the WCAG 2.1 AA in US Section 504
- 03One team
- research, design and engineering, from the first flows to launch
-
Digital health companies selling into the NHS, US health systems or insurers.
-
Health providers whose patient portal or app has to meet Section 504 by May 2027.
-
Clinical and wellbeing teams turning a programme that works in person into a product.
Who it has to work for
Every health product has three users.
The patient uses it, the clinician relies on it and the organisation has to approve it. Miss any one of them and the product stalls.
-
Patients
Something clear, calm and quick, often when they are worried or unwell.
Plain language, large targets and accessible flows that never make anyone feel slow.
-
Clinicians
Tools that save time between appointments, not add clicks to them.
Workflows shaped with clinicians and fitted around the systems they already use.
-
The organisation
Evidence that it is safe, secure, accessible and worth buying.
The usability and accessibility evidence for DTAC and procurement, prepared as we go.
What you get
Designed for care, built for scrutiny.
Patient and clinician research
Interviews and sessions with the people on both sides of the product, within the consent and governance your organisation needs.
Accessible UX and UI
Designed to WCAG 2.2 AA from the first wireframe, in plain language, with the Accessible Information Standard in mind.
Privacy by design
Consent, data minimisation and clear handling of health data built into the flows, not added at review.
Evidence for assessments
The usability and accessibility evidence NHS DTAC and procurement teams ask for, prepared as we go.
Engagement that lasts
Programmes, tracking and coaching designed for months of use, not a first week.
Build
Web and mobile apps engineered to sit alongside the systems health organisations already run.
How we work in health
Four steps, with patients and clinicians in every one.
-
Discover
Patients, clinicians and the people who approve the purchase, heard early, with the rules the product must meet on the table.
-
Shape
Flows and interface designed for the least confident user, reviewed with clinical and governance leads.
-
Test
Prototypes with a broad mix of real users, including people who rely on assistive technology.
-
Build
Engineering with accessibility and privacy checked every sprint, and the assessment evidence ready at launch.
The rules, in short
Health buyers assess the product before they buy it.
In England, NHS organisations assess digital health products against the Digital Technology Assessment Criteria. The version in use since 6 April 2026 asks for WCAG 2.2 AA and evidence that the Accessible Information Standard was considered, alongside clinical safety, data protection, security and interoperability.
In the US, the HHS Section 504 rule requires organisations that receive HHS funding to make their websites and mobile apps conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. In May 2026 the deadline moved by a year: 11 May 2027 for organisations with 15 or more employees, 10 May 2028 for smaller ones.
